Making textured earrings

In this post I want to share with you my beautiful new textured dangle earrings. These dainty earrings feature beautiful raised swirl and floral designs. They are perfect for every day wear or for that special occasion.  Recently I have been wanting to explore new options for adding texture to silver. I have seen some amazing stainless steel stamping plates and I decided to order some to texture silver for my jewellery. So far I am absolutely thrilled with the

Making stud earrings and dangle earrings

A question I’m often asked is whether I use the animal cut outs from my disc earring or pendant designs to make stud earrings. Unfortunately, the answer is no 🙁 It would be great if I could, but it just doesn’t work that way for a number of reasons including: I have to drill a hole in the disc to insert my saw which means that the animal cut out will have a hole in it. Because of the saw

Teeny tiny stud earrings

Most of my designs can be made larger or smaller on request. Today I wanted to share with you a couple of recent custom orders I have made where I decreased the size of the earrings. I photographed the smaller size next to the standard size for comparison. The dogs are really tiny at only 6mm high (standard size is 9mm high). The moose are approximately 8x7mm (standard size is 10x9mm). I am currently working on a range of tiny

New Australia Collection

I am excited to announce the release of my new Australia collection. This is a collection of jewellery featuring some of the amazing Australian flora and fauna. I hope to be adding more designs to this collection soon, but at the moment the collection includes the kangaroo, koala, platypus, echidna, wombat, emu, fairy penguin (or little penguin), sulphur-crested cockatoo and eucalyptus. In making this collection I was constantly reminded of my childhood and of how much I miss Australia. I

Product release: Finland Collection

I am excited to announce the release of my new product line the Finland Collection. This collection celebrates the natural beauty of Finland. The Finland Collection has been in the works for many months now. In that time I have spent countless hours designing, scrapping, and re-designing each item in the collection. Each piece of jewellery is entirely handmade from sterling silver. Every bird/animal/flower/leaf is individually hand cut from silver using a jeweller’s saw, and each one is slightly different. The collection includes

Summer time in Finland

It’s summer here in Finland, my favourite season of the year. Summer time means lots of sunshine – in fact in the north the sun doesn’t set at all for part of the summer. It also means lots of gorgeous fresh berries growing wild in the forests, relaxing next to the lake, and lots and lots of mosquitoes. Seriously insane amounts of mosquitoes! Summer time also means that Finland essentially shuts down for a month or so. Most Finns take 4 weeks of

Making an elephant pendant

For this post, I thought I’d give you a brief overview of the process of making an elephant pendant from Argentium sterling silver (with lots of photos of course). There are so many steps involved in making these pendants and so much time goes into all of the sanding, polishing and finishing. The process all starts with an idea that I then put onto paper. In this case, I wanted to create a special piece for my niece who loves elephants.

Inspiration from nature

I am lucky enough to live in a very beautiful part of the world. We live on a farm in Finland next to a beautiful and absolutely massive lake. Much of the farm is covered in forest, with a few oat fields in between. All year round the scenery is stunning, and it fascinates me just how much the landscape changes throughout the year. From snow and ice in winter, to fresh berries galore and wild flowers as far as the

… and my second retail stockist too!

I posted only a few days ago that my jewellery is now available at my first retail stockist – Olo-huone in Helsinki. I am excited to announce that as of today my jewellery is also available at a second retail stockist in Helsinki – Oma Kauppa. Matti and I delivered the jewellery and set up the display this afternoon. Jacinta

My first retail stockist !!!

For a few months now Matti and I have been discussing contacting retail stores which may be interested in either selling my jewellery on a commission basis or placing a wholesale order. Matti and I have both spent many hours researching potential shops on the internet (which is not that easy for me given my limited Finnish skills, but I still found a few good leads). Matti and I travelled to Helsinki this weekend with the intention of meeting with one shop

My first markets in Finland

I moved to Finland with my husband almost 6 months ago. During that time I have been working on creating my new jewellery range as well as learning to speak Finnish. Whilst my Finnish language skills still have a very long way to go, I am very happy with my jewellery. So, a few months ago we decided that the jewellery range was ready for sale at Christmas markets, and set about the task of booking into some local markets. Just

Making a bubble drop pendant

This is one of the projects I have been working on recently – a bubble  drop pendant made from Argentium silver, a sterling silver bail and tinted resin. I love working with Argentium silver (sterling silver that has a small amount of germanium replacing some of the copper content). Argentium silver has a silver content of 93.5%, slightly higher than conventional sterling silver. Why do I love working with Argentium silver? It does not fire scale and is really easy

My first ever blog post!

Welcome to Jacinta Knight Jewellery and to my first ever blog post! To get started, here’s a little bit of information about Jacinta Knight Jewellery and about myself. Since I had my ears pierced (at the age of 28!) I have completely fallen in love with earrings and with jewellery in general. This is why you’ll see so many different earrings in my gallery. I have always loved being creative and playing with colours. Over the years I have dabbled
